Therapeutic-grade Essential Oils

"And they [Jesus' disciples] went out, and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them." Mark 6:12-13

No, Jesus didn't send His disciples out as medical healers. He sent them out in the power of Yahweh God. Yet, we must look at the historical context also. God indeed did command anointing with oil with a spiritual significance at times in the Old Testament (as well as New.) But also anointing with oil was a common health practice then. Plants (and the oils from them) were used "for the service of man" - to bring healing to the body.

If the disciples had nothing more than a common practice of anointing for health, then this would be no big deal. But they did have more, the power of the Healer, that just happens to also be the One that created the plants "for the service of man." We cannot discount anointing with oils for the physical properties that they contain just because God also gave a spiritual application that touches the physical body. God many times works physical works through physical means that He has designed within His creation. Many who would have no problem trusting modern, synthetic medicine scoff at the very ways God provided for health from the beginning. Biblical History of Oils for Healing

The Bible mentions oils 188 times, many times in reference to anointing and healing. Essential Oils, the aromatic liquids extracted from plants, were the first substances used for healing. Long before science discovered the therapeutic properties of Essential Oils, man knew of the healing benefits of Oils, and fathers were anointing (rubbing or pouring oil over) their families and protecting them from disease. Throughout the Bible we can find that the oils and herbs used had appropriate therapeutic application for the situation. From the Hyssop used on Passover, to Mary anointing Jesus with Spikenard, there is no coincidence with God. His Word stands as His Truth for those who will search, to find. We believe that anointing with oil along with Prayer is not just a token act, but like all of God's commands given for a reason.

Historical Usage

During the Black Plague in the 15th century, a small band of thieves were caught robbing the dead bodies of money, jewels, and other valuables. The Plague, being very highly contagious, was killing others who came near the bodies, yet not one of these thieves contracted the Plague. These thieves were perfumers who knew the properties of the oils of the plants they worked with were effective against deadly disease, and they were rubbing their bodies with them to ward off the Plague. Many perfumers, tanners, and nearly the entire town of Bucklersbury, England, the center of Lavender trade, were able to escape the Plague.

Essential Oils were "rediscovered" in 1921, by accident when a chemist received a third-degree thermal burn on his hand and plunged it into what he thought was water. It was Lavender oil; the pain immediately subsided and the burn healed with no scarring. During World War Two he passed his knowledge of Essential Oils on to a colleague who was losing soldiers to gangrene when the antibiotics weren't working. He began treating the soldiers' wounds with Essential Oils, and saved the rest of them.

Not until 1967 was much scientific research done on Essential Oils. Now many hospitals in Europe are using them for their therapeutic qualities that were there all along.

Why Essential Oils?

Essential Oils are more than just nice fragrances from plants. The Word of God tells us the "Life is in the blood". Although plants do not have blood in the sense that we do, they do have a liquid that travels through their veins delivering nutrients; that contains, in concentration, enzymes, the life force of the plant. Pure Essential Oils are at least 50 times more therapeutically potent than the herbs and plants they come from.

Essential Oils contain powerful oxygenating molecules, which have the ability to penetrate the walls of human cells, bringing other nutrients, as well as oxygen, into the cell. The penetration properties of Essential Oils are so great that within 21 minutes of application every cell in the body will be penetrated.
