Raw Juice Powders
We consider Barley Leaf Juice Powder a staple for times when we aren't able to prepare fresh juice. I prefer Barley Max, as I believe it to be superior, setting a new quality standard. However, many have been restored to health through the nourishment of Barley Life, so I can't naysay it. Both companies also make a carrot juice powder and a beet juice powder. Organic, Virgin Coconut Oil
Organic, virgin coconut oil is an awesome thing! Most Americans are deficient in essential fatty acids, the good fats that we need for proper cell, brain, and all body functions. And Coconut Oil is a great EFA with many benefits for our health. Forget all you've heard about coconut oil being bad. Well, highly processed, refined coconut oil is bad. But not properly processed coconut oil. It has many health benefits. It is a good fat! It is very high in lauric acid, the beneficial fatty acid found in mother's milk that supports healthy metobolism, and has many other health benefits. It is anitviral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, thus being a great protector of our health. Read a bit more 'from me' here. But for a complete beginners guide to VCO, watch for our soon coming guide on coconut oil. All coconut oils are not produced equal. As most foods, much of it is highly refined and nutritionally not beneficial. In purchasing Coconut Oil you want to look for organic, virgin (or extra virgin) oil cold-pressed from fresh coconuts (not copra—dried coconuts.) Centrifuge extracted is considered the best. Most lower quality coconut oils (that don't provide the same health benefits) are expeller pressed, refined—high heat and/or chemicals used in the process, and/or made from copra—dried coconuts. Wholefood Farmacy (above) has a fresh, centrifuge, cold-pressed process virgin coconut oil. Although it is usually quite expensive to buy it in pint jars, such as these are, check out their member price. Usually the least expensive way to buy organic virgin coconut oil is in bulk. A gallon will last you a while. A 5 gallon bucket is the best price, and will last you a good while, but it keeps for 2-3 years. So if you're looking for the best price, buy a bucket for a good long supply or to share the savings with friends. Wilderness Family's top quality coconut oil is fresh, centrifuge; their cold-pressed is a good raw Coconut Oil also. Their 1/2 gallon size comes in a glass jar, which is a plus, IMO. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil from these 2 companies are our top recommendations. Note from Wilderness Family: Through the years, we have discontinued carrying [other coconut] oils after finding new virgin coconut oils of higher quality. We always like to know which oils come out the winner in blindfolded taste-tests. In addition, we look at laboratory analysis data and certificates of analysis on every oil submitted to us. (Others that we feel are probably good, but not our top recommendations, are Tropical Traditions Gold which is fresh centrifuge process from fermented fresh coconuts; their Green, which is Cold-pressed; and Nutiva's, organic, extra-virgin which is cold-pressed from fresh coconuts, unfermented.)
Raw, Organic Agave NectarAgave nectar is a liquid all natural sweetener, like honey except it comes directly from plants—the Agave plant. Raw Agave nectar is extracted from the heart of the plant and processed at low (non-enzyme killing) temperatures. It is low glycemic, lower even than honey, and has a very mild taste, more mild than honey, and it doesn't crystalize. Agave nectar can be used in place of honey, perhaps using a bit less, for all your sweetening needs. However, there is much controversy over Agave, whether it truly is as good as it sounds. In general, I am pleased with a few exceptional brands being a raw real living food product. But realize its processing may be more than raw honey, which is still our sweetener of choice. Agave has been a good choice for us though in things where the honey flavor may be too overpowering. The agave we carry is organic and raw—and 1 gallon, to save you money. Fiber Cleanse

Buying Good for You-Naturally!™ FoodsWe highly recommend Azure Standard for your regular "grocery" foods. They are an online natural food supplier, that will ship either by their own trucks (on their delivery routes,) or by UPS (for non-perishables). And they are very reasonably priced. We buy most of our groceries through Azure. If you are local to me, and would like to join my drop point, contact me for details after reading more about how Azure Standard works for us, here. Also, I can't believe how many natural, transitional (and a few honestly Good for You-Naturally!™) foods you can order through Amazon.com. They are more your "convenience" type "natural" foods, not much "optimal" nutrition, but nonetheless handy to have occasionally. Everybody was shocked when I told them I ordered groceries from Amazon, especially since I don't use S.A.D. convenience foods. But things like organic, all-fruit leathers, and coconut oil are cheaper through Amazon. I even have a few things set up on their Subscribe & Save program to get a discount and free shipping.
Other Sources for Good for You-Naturally!™ foodsWhen you decide to broaden your horizons beyond salads, juices and smoothies, into more adventurous raw foods, there may be some raw foods/ingredients that aren't as readily available. Here are a couple of sites where you may be able to find them. Paul Nison is a fellow believer in Jesus, as well as a raw food eater and teacher, presenting a more biblical - and more balanced - perspective than you find in most raw foodists. (Just because something is a raw plant does not mean it is necessarily Good for You-Naturally!, and Paul knows and teaches that.) The Raw Life Health Store has raw juice powders, as mentioned above, super food powders, raw bars, raw olives, raw crackers and breads and more, in addition to Paul's books and DVD's.
We aren't endorsing anything at this site below except the raw real foods you find there. We're not even endorsing all the foods you find there. But it can be a good source for some things if you live far from the city where such things may be found, and they aren't available from our usual sources listed above. Raw olives. Raw tahini. They also carry organic, raw non-pasteurized almonds (from Italy) at a price cheaper than my previous source (which has had to go to pasteurization.)
Washing your Fresh ProduceSince this pertains to food I'm putting this tip here. Wash all your fresh produce with Raw, organic Apple Cider Vinegar. Fill a bowl/sink with pure water to cover the produce and add a splash of ACV. Let soak a few minutes, then scrub and rinse. (At the very least, spray with ACV and rinse.)
