Loving and Natural Care ~ ABC's and D for Babies

Don't let anyone fool you into thinking babies are expensive. Mama, a dry cloth diaper, and a woolie is really about all they need. Use quality products and leave off all the unnecessary extras, and you'll save big time.

A is for Attachment - bonding through being together; including "wearing" baby and co-sleeping. Click for our easy to make, easy to use, pouch sling pattern.

B is for Breastfeeding - no resources necessary, but plenty of water, nutrition, and rest for momma, along with 'A' above. It's all he needs for most of the first year.

Nursing clothing optional. Elizabeth Lee has the best patterns. If you're having trouble establishing milk supply, check out Fennel Essential Oil, or Blessed Thistle, Fenugreek, (and other) herbs or Organic Mother's Milk Tea.

C is for Care - TLC in a natural (non-toxic) environment

Some favorite products: Lamb/Sheepskin. This wonderful comfort is nearly as old as man himself. It is the best! Keeps baby warm, cool, and comfortable when he's not in your arms.

California Baby Baby Wash, Young Living Body Wash and Lotion (regular and Kid Scent,) and Thieves Household Cleaner (can be used for laundry, as well as household cleaning), Hyland's Calendula Ointment (just in case - for diaper rash, dry patches, and big people too - good for skinned knees, chapped skin, etc. Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils will come in handy as he grows, for occassional boo-boos and health care.

D is for Dressing & Diapering Baby - see mini-article (I'll get more info up on the recommendations later) - Yes! I really do highly recommend cloth diapers.

I prefer hemp/organic cotton blend for the diapers, 2nd choice is cotton flannel. I like them shaped and I usually just lay them in a wrap, but I like them with enough of a "side/tab" that they can be pinned if I choose to not use a wrap. I highly prefer wool wraps.

I also dress (them and myself) in all natural fabrics - mostly 100% cotton, some wool.
